Video Premiere: HIRIE “Renegade” feat. Nahko

Wandering Soul, the new album from HIRIE debuted at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart upon its release last month. The record, which came out through the Rootfire Cooperative, is the second record from the San Diego-based band led by its Kaneohe,Hawaii-raised namesake. Guests on the new record include Nahko Bear, Trevor Hall and Nattali Rize.

Today we premiere the official video for “Renegade” from Wandering Soul , which features a guest appearance by Nahko Bear. The song itself is a call to action and Hirie tells Relix, “The greatest thing about the ‘Renegade’ music video is how much of a collaborative effort it was. We used a stellar San Diego-based production company called Blue Barn Creative to bring our vision to life. We had about 4 pre-production and concept meetings before we began shooting in Lake Hemet and at several other locations in San Diego. We were very lucky to bring on a couple of wolf ambassadors from the U.S. Wolf Refuge in Nevada; as well as appearances from members of the 4 Waves Tribe based out of Los Angeles. Even on a relatively small budget we were able to film the music video on a RED Scarlet Dragon thanks to Stephen Alberts - one of the founders of Blue Barn Creative. This film for ‘Renegade’ is all about going against the grain and following your gut instincts. I feel really lucky to have conveyed that message and emotion thanks to our amazing production team, my dear friend Nahko, as well as our many other friends and fans who contributed to its completion.”

HIRIE will take the road for a series of dates which include runs with both Nahko and the Medicine People and Rebelution over the months to come. The group’s upcoming dates appear below the video.
