New Orleans roots rocker Dave Jordan first gained notoriety as the lead singer and bass player of the funk band Juice. In 2010 Anders Osborne produced Jordan’s solo debut, These Old Boots, which was named a Top 10 record of the year by the Times-Picayune. Jordan’s latest record, Burning Sage, is now available for pre-order. This will be a busy few days for the musician who will perform at Le Bon Temps Roule on Friday evening, followed by two sets at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, starting with the Lagniappe Stage at 12:35, followed by a performance at the AARP Rhythmpourium Tent at 3:15 (and then he will appear that night at One Eyed Jacks).
In celebration of all this, today we premiere the new musicvideo from Dave Jordan & The NIA. Jordan tells Relix, “The song is oneof those universal experiences. The times in life where you’re so in the momentwith your partner or lover that the rest of the world kinda disappears aroundyou. Just tunnel vision with the other person.
“The video was aton of fun. Shot in my neighborhood in New Orleans (Mid City), at Chickie WahWah, a great music room that focuses more on singer songwriters and acousticmusic than most of the venues in the city. Directed by one of my best friendsfrom high school, Chad Kirtland, it also features some of my closest friends inthe New Orleans music scene. Sage Rouge, the sax player from Johnny Sketch& the Dirty Notes; WWOZ radio host Murf Reeves; and Maple Leaf bartenderJoe “Kiss” Villela all make cameos. The audience consisted mostly of friendsthat I’ve known since high school or even before. A real New Orleans familyaffair.”
