Before Jason Isbell hit the stage for the first of two sold out shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the Muscle Shoals singer-songwriter brought his band, the 400 Unit, to the late night stage as the group delivered "If It Takes a Lifetime" on Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The performance comes just a week after Isbell took home a pair of Grammys for his outstanding latest effort, Something More Than Free.
During his show at the Beacon, Isbell remarked that he and the band probably played "If It Takes a Lifetime" fourteen times today, referencing the rehearsals for Colbert. To kick off the show, Isbell humorously said, "Well, the way I see it we've got about 245 more of these to go before we're tied with the Allman Brothers."
