Last week, DJ Logic returned to New York for a three-night residency at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club from Jan. 21-23. The champion turntablist, pioneering collaborator and hometown hero earned his acclaim in the jam scene yet again with three-nights of unfettered improvisation alongside a of supergroup of Friends: percussionist Marcus Gilmore, pianist James Hurt, guitarist Vernon Reid, bassist Felix Pastorius, saxophonist Emilio Modeste and jazz harmonica ace Grégoire Maret. Through the run, the seven-piece dream team stirred up a truly singular sound, fusing funk, rock, hip-hop, jazz and more in an eclectic, shapeshifting mix that veered from harmony to potent discord and back again.
Photographer Marc Millman was in attendance on the final night of the run to capture special guest appearances from Kosha Dillz and Jordan Young. Get an inside look at the festivities in his gallery below. For more information on DJ Logic and Blue Note, visit djlogic.com and bluenotejazz.com/nyc/.
