Amid a period of heightened creativity and prolific output, second-generation Southern rock and blues kingpin Devon Allman offers a message that echoes the title of his track, “Blues Is a Feeling.” Today, the adept guitarist, known for his gripping lines, has tapped Relix to debut his latest music video, an unofficial tour diary that captures the magnetic energy of his summer run, which supported his latest full-length release, Blues Summit, which landed on July 25, 2025.

The official music video for “Blues Is a Feeling” opens with vintage-tinged ambiance projected by black-and-white still shots of the band, including featured players and LP contributors Jimmy Hall, Larry McCray, and Sierra Green. Mixed into the introductory batch of visuals is the initial video clip of Wet Willie’s original, Hall, who christens the lyrical lead “Play it when you’re high/ Make you lose control/ Brings us all together/ The blues can heal your soul.”

While Hall contributes lines, Allman uses his status as bandleader to propel guitar excellence, ripping chords with a sense of multi-generational confidence that reflects his own status as the son of a renowned musician and true Southern troubadour, Gregg Allman. Projecting the best of the players’ skill sets, Allman swaps roles with Hall partway through, delivering the chorus over the guest’s assertion of raw, emotional depth on harmonica.

At the heart of the music video is a sense of playfulness and on-stage amusement, genuine pleasure in coaxing respect for the blues, and an affinity for the genre’s lineage. In the video, the collective peaks at 2:20, an instrumental ricochet of guitar lines and harmonica that adds melodic richness to a timeless tune and memories that evoke a formidable tour.

Commenting on today’s release, Allman told Relix, “The summer tour with Blues Summit was such a gas – this music video will remind me of it forever!”

In addition to a successful summer run in support of Blues Summit, Allman has kept busy through the release of his first solo album in eight years, Miami Moon. As is tradition, he will join his brother in music, Duane Betts, to reprise the spirit of their father’s songs when the Allman Betts Family Revival tour begins on November 29 at The Factory in St. Louis.
