On May 7, Compass Records will release the studio record from longtime Relix favorites Leftover Salmon. Brand New Good Old Days marks the band’s return to the label, which issued the quintet’s 2002 release Live. The new album is now available for pre-order.

The 10 tracks on Brand New Good Old Days are predominantly originals although the record opens with a version of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.” The band’s Drew Emmitt notes that the song “has always intrigued me with its haunting lyrics and very cool chord progression. I also felt like it was appropriate for this crazy time we’re in and that it would make a great Bluegrass tune.”

Today, we premiere the animated lyric video for the title track, which carries of message of appreciating the moment. Fellow Leftover Salmon co-founder Vince Herman adds, “It’s a reminder that no matter what kind of trouble we’re in these days, it may not ever be as good as it is right now,”
