Video Premiere: Piuma “As Far As the Eye Can See” (Live)
For Piuma‘s self-titled debut David Small recorded all the parts himself. However when it came time to translate the material to the live settinghe drew in three additional players: Lamar Little (drums), Mike Roberts (bass) and Max Butler (keys). Today we premiere a live video for the song “As Far As the Eye Can See” recorded at Kulak’s Woodshed in Los Angeles, California. Small tells Relix, “I wanted to find musicians that could take the energy to the next level. To me it’s all about chemistry and feel. After jamming with Lamar, Mike, and Max—I felt that we could lock down the songs and build the jams—where they had enough of the album in them, but also a fresh energy with each player’s own style pushing the sound further. After three rehearsals, this live film was of the first show we played together—at the record release for the EP. It was filmed at a cool venue in Studio City that does live shows, but is also a recording and broadcast studio—where they streamed the show live in HD. My favorite part of “As Far As the Eye Can See” is at 2:15, where we start to go off and jam, just playing off the moment and crowd.
The EP is now available for purchase and Small notes, it is “a concept album about opening Pandora’s box, seeing the challenges and resolving to do the right thing. In line with that, we donated $1.00 from each concert ticket to TreePeople, planting trees in the Angeles National Forest, offsetting at least 10,000 lbs of carbon.”
