Video Premiere: The Revivalists “You and I (Made In Muscle Shoals)”

The Revivalists recently made their way from their New Orleans home base to the legendary FAME Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama for a special recording session. There, the band opted to embrace the spirit of the setting by re-recording material and exploring new covers. One of the songs that appears on the resulting Made In Muscle Shoals live studio EP and accompanying documentary is “You and I,” which first appeared on the group’s latest studio album, Take Good Care. We described Take Good Care as “A high-energy, seamless blend of soulful, horn-abetted rock-and-roll, post-Black Keys garage-blues, beat-heavy indie jams and earnest, main-stage energy.” As for the new version, lead singer David Shaw explains, “We had no preconceived notion about how we wanted the songs to change before going into FAME Studios. We really wanted the vibe of the room to guide us to that place. ‘You And I’ really took its shape once Zack [Feinberg] landed on that new riff you hear in the beginning.”

Today we premiere this version of “You and I.” The Revivalists recently paused their Into The Stars Tour due to the Coronavirus pandemic but will return to the road when feasible (here are the current Tour Dates). In the interim, Shaw will perform a Remote Relix Session this Friday at 4 PM ET.
