Moon Taxi will return to the road on Saturday for an extended tour that opens at the Iroquois Amphitheater in Louisville. In anticipation of these dates, the group is releasing a new single, “Mission.” The song is a collaboration with the late producer/ multi-instrumentalist Busbee. Jacquire King (Dawes, Punch Brothers, Guster) produced the track along with Moon Taxi’s Spencer Thomson. 

Thomson reflects, “I’m so proud of the way this came together. Being able to work with people of this caliber who are at the highest level of the recording world is something I’ll never take for granted.  I think it is just the sound Moon Taxi needs for this moment and I believe there is a large audience out there who will fall in love with it as well.”

Moon Taxi is touring in support of the album Silver Dream. As we detail in our recent feature on the group, “Silver Dream pushes the band’s sound further than ever before, boasting elements of rootsy folk, pop-guitar rock and electronica. But rather than simply jumping between styles, song to song, many of the tracks, such as the standout ‘Hometown Heroes,’ manage to seamlessly blend all of the above. But even with these new textures layered atop one another, Silver Dream still retains the elements that made Moon Taxi, well, Moon Taxi.” The group’s upcoming dates appear below the video.
