Video Premiere: John Hiatt with The Jerry Douglas Band “I’m In Asheville”
John Hiatt is teaming up with the Jerry Douglas Band for an album and tour. New West Records will release Leftover Feelings on May 21. Douglas produced the record, which they recorded at renowned RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tenn. The pairing of these iconic musicians is true cause for celebration, which has bluegrass, folk, country and Americana enthusiasts alike eager to hear the results.
Today we are premiering the official video for “I’m in Asheville” from Leftover Feelings. Hiatt tells Relix, “It’s a song about a guy who’s left his lover in all but his mind and heart. Jerry’s aching steel guitar floating above the rolling fiddle and the pulse of the bass and rhythm just expands on the dubious decision this fellow has made.”
A line from “I’m in Asheville” supplies the title to the new record and Douglas adds, “It’s about a guy who screws up once again. A habit he can’t break. When I heard this song, I knew our role as the band was to surround the character but not get in his way and just let him talk it out of his system. John delivered us these great songs so we treated them with the utmost care.”
John Hiatt will tour with the Jerry Douglas Band in the fall for what will be a highly anticipated run of shows. The tour dates appear below the video, which was directed by Lagan Sebert and Ted Roach.
