Video Premiere: Improvised Acid Jazz from Whose Hat Is This? (feat. Tedeschi Trucks Band Members)

Whose Hat Is This? came together during an off-day while the Tedeschi Trucks Band toured Europe in 2015. TTB bassist Tim Lefebvre booked a spontaneous gig at the A-Trane in Berlin and soon enlisted saxophonist Kebbi Williams and drummers JJ Johnson and Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell to join for an evening of fully improvised music. Portions of that performance were released on their debut record and on November 16, Ropeadope will release their follow-up, Everything’s OK? which was recorded at the 8 x 10 in Baltimore.

Today we premiere a video of their stirring performance from that night, which will appear on Everything’s OK? as “Pre-Dug Holes/Step in Here Lightly” > “Jon Holmes.” Along with the original four musicians, this sequence also features Kokayi on vocals. He will appear with Whose Hat Is This? During the band’s upcoming tour dates, which are listed below the clip.
