Video Premiere: Gangstagrass “Barnburning” (Live)

Gangstagrass are a unique bluegrass/hip-hop collective led by singer-songwriter/producer Rench and known for their song “Long Hard Times to Come,” which served as the theme music for FX series Justified for six seasons. Today, we premiere a live video of the group’s song “Barnburning,” taken from a show at the Hi-Fi in Indianapolis, IN.
“We are excited to get to share the dynamics of our live show with people who haven’t been there in person,” Rench tells Relix. “The Hi-Fi in Indy has been a great venue for us so this was a perfect place to capture our performance. Many people, even fans, don’t realize we play the bluegrass instruments live, and probably couldn’t imagine the kind of kick-ass playing you see here as part of our show, along with the live emcees.”
Gangstagrass will release a full live album, titled Pocket Full of Fire: Gangstagrass Live, in 2019, taking from the band’s spring 2018 tour. Below, watch the video of “Barnburning,” which Gangstagrass dedicate to Sean Aikins, one of the band’s “super fans” based in Indianapolis who passed away this past weekend.
