Tonight the String Chesse Incident will open a weekend run in their home state at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphithatre. Via their Facebook page in their countdown of favorite Red Rocks moments over the years, they’ve offered the following memory of their 8/14/99 performance on the Summer Sessions tour, when the band members joined Phil Lesh. Summer Sessions ’99 – Playing with Phil Lesh & Friends

In the summer of 1999, we were asked to join the “Summer Sessions” tour, a month long traveling festival that featured SCI, Galactic, Gov’t Mule, moe., and the legendary Phil Lesh on select dates. The show rolled into Morrison, CO on August 13th and 14th for two incredible nights on The Rocks. Perhaps the highlight of the weekend was Kang, Kyle, Billy, and Travis playing the “friends” part of the Phil and Friends set. It was magical experience, getting to play a bunch of Grateful Dead tunes with the man himself. He was even gracious enough to let us throw a “’Round The Wheel” into his set. We were honored to join Phil that night. It was truly something we will never forget.
