Premiere: Kendall Street Company Create New Animated Video for “Shanti the Dolphin”

Charlottesville, Virginia-based Kendall Street Company first gained national renown when they won the 2017 “Rockn to LOCKN” competition. The high-energy act has also appeared at Roosterwalk, Floydfest, Resonance, and Domefest, and had been announced to return to this year’s LOCKN in June before the festival was postponed. That same month also marked the release of the group’s new studio record,  The Nautical Aquatical. The six songs on the album share a coastal theme, while exploring a palette of psychedelic sounds, surf-rock, jazz and more.

Today we premiere the animated video for “Shanti the Dolphin.” Sam Dixon created the animation, from original artwork by Dylan Silliphant. KSC guitarist Ben Laderberg tells Relix, “What started as a silly song about my five-year-old niece’s favorite statue of ‘Shanti the Dolphin’ in Virginia Beach (pictured at the end of the video), ended up taking on a life of its own. The result is a rock-fueled underwater odyssey featuring a well-intentioned dolphin leading an increasingly seedy lifestyle.” Sam
