Here is Bill Walton with Jay Bilas in a Grateful Dead Shirt

Bill Walton is a national treasure in so many ways. If you’ve been fortunate enough to stay up late and catch the former NBA all-star call a college basketball game on the west coast, you know why this is the case. Walton is also an unabashed Grateful Dead fan, often working in references during his calls. If you listen closely, you’ll be able to pick out at least a handful per contest, and on some occasions he’ll directly discuss (like he did recently at a game in Wisconsin) his time touring with the band.

Last night, Walton spread his fandom onto fellow ESPN analyst Jay Bilas. The former Duke star intro’d a segment in Arizona’s film room, only to walk in on Walton watching a live Grateful Dead show. The two riffed on the subject for a few seconds, and Bilas even dropped a “Truckin'” lyric. Following that, Bilas did a live spot from the court in a tie-dye t-shirt with a proud Walton flanking him. Play-by-play man Dave Pasch posted the above photo to his Twitter.

It appears The Bilastrator is as excited about the reunion news as Walton. Watch the segment below.
