Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre opened its doors on Wednesday, August 18, 1926. Designed by renowned architect Thomas Lamb, the venue served as a Motion Picture Palace as well as a lavish, decorative playhouse. The sold-out premiere event included a performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” by a ten-piece orchestra, which then provided the score to the silent film epic Sea Wolf.

On Saturday, September 19, the Cap will commemorate its 100 year anniversary with a special performance. Pink Talking Fish will serve as the Centennial Band and anchor the celebration. Joining the group over the course of the evening will be a variety of notable musicians who have previously appeared at the venerated venue. These artists include: Robert Randolph, moe.’s Al Schnier and Vinnie Amico, Goose drummer Cotter Ellis, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s Greg Ormont and Alex Petropulos, Andy Frasco, Kanika Moore, Sammi Garrett, Jeremy Kaplan and The Gotham Horns, a three piece horn section led by Matt Wayne, with additional participants expected as well.

BERTHA: Grateful Drag, will open the festivities, with tickets now on sale.
