Last night, April 1, My Morning Jacket touched down in Chattanooga, Tenn. to kick off its expansive 2025 tour itinerary. With the first performance in a run that will bring them to 44 performances through November 1, the roots rockers and road warriors formally celebrated the release of is, which arrived via ATO records on March 21. With Tuesday’s performance, the band introduced fans to its tenth studio album and first since its 2021 self-titled with live debuts of all ten tracks, interspersed with some of the 27-year quintet’s biggest hits.
My Morning Jacket stormed the stage at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium with “The Dark,” the smoldering standout from its 1999 debut The Tennessee Fire. After looking back, the band leaped forward to their new record with the first live performances of lead singles “Half a Lifetime” and “Squid Ink,” then returned to the classics for “Mahgeetah” and “Picture of You,” which opened with a quote from Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks theme inspired by a fan-identified similarity from a Reddit AMA.
Through the remainder of the show, MMJ alternated between longtime favorites like “Circuital,” “War Begun” and both phases of “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream” and exhilaratign premiere performances of is entries “I Can Hear Your Love,” “Lemme Know,” “River Road,” “Beginning from the Ending,” “Die for It” and the enchanting first single “Time Waited.” Following an explosive set closer of “One Big Holiday,” the band returned to the stage for a four-track encore of the first live “Out in the Open,” “Spring (Among the Living),” “I Think I’m Going to Hell” and “Wordless Chorus.”
My Morning Jacket will return to the stage tomorrow, April 3, through Saturday, April 5, for the 2025 iteration of its beloved One Big Holiday concert getaway in Miramar Beach, Fla, featuring performances by Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dinosaur Jr., S.G. Goodman and more. For tickets and more information on the group’s 2025 live itinerary, visit mymorningjacket.com/tour.
