Bob Dylan and Machine Gun Kelly’s rapport continues.
Yesterday, June 11, the rapper shared the official album announcement trailer for his forthcoming project, lost americana, due on August 8. The clip, which highlights single, “clichè,” also appears to be narrated by Dylan.
Addressing the lively response to Dylan’s inclusion, Kelly posted a ’60s era photo of the musician to his Instagram story set to the iconic artist’s original song, “Like a Rolling Stone.” He also added to the intrigue by posting on Twitter/ X: “lost americana the album. 8-8 trailer narrated by …”

Before their latest exchange, Dylan initiated interest in Kelly earlier this year, on February 27, 2025, when he took to Instagram to share a clip of the rapper performing in a record store circa 2016. The same night, Kelly responded to Dylan, expressing flattery and commenting, “you having a phone is so rad.”
The saga continued on April 17, when Kelly contacted Stereogum and shared his thoughts on Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone,” calling the 1965-released number “the ultimate get on my motorcycle and ride to nowhere song.”
A month later, during Dylan’s appearance at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl as a part of Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Tour, Kelly alluded to being Dylan’s guest. Fan-captured photos also confirmed his attendance.
He also followed up by alluding to the encounter online, writing: “i met and had a conversation with someone last night that i never thought i’d get the honor to meet all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago. i love music.”
On May 22, Kelly took to Instagram once again, this time, sharing a personal photo of Dylan on stage at the Hollywood Bowl, paired with the caption, “stop what you’re doing these pictures are v important.”
The next day, Kelly previewed his impending album by sharing “clichè,” which features the line: “Baby, I’m a rolling stone.”
In the latest move, yesterday’s arrival of the album trailer featured Dylan’s voiceover and LP description:
lost americana is a personal excavation of the American Dream. A journey to find what’s been lost. This album is a love letter to those who seek to rediscover—the dreamers, the drifters, the defiers.
It’s a sonic map of forgotten places, a tribute to the spirit of reinvention, and a quest to reclaim the authentic essence of American freedom.
From the gold neon diners, to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces where the past is reimagined—and the future is forged on your own terms.
Dylan has been in a heightened state of collaboration and musical exhilaration. This spring, he busted out revered pieces of his personal and borrowed catalog on the road with Nelson. He also shared the stage with Billy Strings, the torchbearer of the bluegrass tradition. The fertile moment in the musician’s career comes after the success of the Timothée Chalamet-fronted A Complete Unknown.
