Watch: Chad Smith Joins Foo Fighters for a Faces Cover

“We never do encores,” Dave Grohl shouted to a packed Citi Field while sitting atop his absolutely insane motorized rock and roll throne. The band made an exception on this night, their first at the home of the Mets, as they welcomed out Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to lead the way on Faces’ “Stay With Me.” The cover is a popular one in the Foos repertoire as of late, as they typically take some time in the middle of their show to deliver a slew of classic rock covers. Last night, that portion included Queen’s “Under Pressure” and AC/DC’s “Let There Be Rock,” among others.

Smith came out on drums for the finale, a 9-minute jam that allowed current Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins to take center stage, next to his bandmate with the broken leg, for lead vocals on the song.
