Watch Trey Anastasio, Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks and Gov’t Mule Perform “Soulshine” at The Jammys

The Jammy Awards have often been the setting for some incredible live music collaborations. Given the surplus of excellent musicians present at the ceremonies, this is no surprise. 2004’s awards saw Dr. John and George Porter, Jr. take the stage together, along with Toots Hibbert, Brian Stoltz and Matt Abts; in 2005, John Mayer jammed with Buddy Guy, Phil Lesh and Questlove. (Watch a video of their performance of “Hoochie Coochie Man” here.)

The third ever Jammy Awards, held on Oct. 2 at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, featured another amazing collaboration: Trey Anastasio, Derek Trucks and Gregg Allman took the stage along a Gov’t Mule lineup of Warren Haynes, Matt Abts, Andy Hess and Danny Louis to perform Mule’s “Soulshine.”

This performance featured award winners from that evening: Anastasio won Studio Album of the Year for his eponymous solo record as well as Tour of the Year for his Summer 2002 solo tour, and the song “Soulshine” itself won Song of the Year. Anastasio also shared the award for Archival Album of the Year, which went to Phish’s LivePhish Vol. 11, which highlighted the band’s Nov. 11, 1997 performance at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colo.
