The second studio album from PigPen Theatre Co. will be released on July 7. Whole Sun (which is now available for pre-order) emerged following an eight-month period of writing and recording demos in the septet’s Brooklyn apartment. Today we premiere “Choir,” the lead track from Whole Sun. The band tells Relix, “We chose ‘Choir’ as the album opener because it’s a song about music. Beginning with a plea by someone in need of help and ending with a resounding, uplifting response to that plea – it’s about how music adapts to you. No matter the circumstance, music has the ability to teach, to comfort, to heal, to drive someone to action. Even just the image of a choir, a group of people standing together for the sake of music, is comforting and empowering. Playing the song live has become one of our favorite moments of the show… Everyone loves a choir.” The group which first came together in 2007 when its members were freshmen at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in 2007, is currently in the midst of a national tour.
