Luther Dickinson and Sisters of the Strawberry Moon will release their debut record on March 22 via New West Records. Dickinson produced Solstice and focuses on guitar, leaving the vocals to his team of collaborators which includes: Amy Helm, Amy LaVere, Birds of Chicago, Sharde Thomas, and the Como Mamas. Dickinson explains, ““Each singer brought a handful of songs to the table. Sometimes it was an old tune they wanted to reinterpret or something new they’d written that felt right for the cast of characters at hand, but no matter the track, all of our colors ended up mixing together on a communal palette.”
Today we premiere a live performance video for “Like A Songbird That Has Fallen” from the forthcoming record, which is now available for pre-order. Dickinson reflects, “Introducing Amy Helm and Lillie Mae was beautiful. Amy’s heart melted when Lillie Mae first sang harmony with her and she said, “That’s the natural harmony I’ve looked for all this time.” This the intention of SOTSM, to introduce new friends and watch their collaborative relationships grow and blossom.”
