On January 22, Mountain Fever Records will release Justin Moses’ new album Fall Like Rain. In October the International Bluegrass Music Association named Moses the Resophonic Guitar Player of the Year, an honor he also received in 2018 for his stellar work on the dobro. Moses plays multiple instruments on the new record, including mandolin and banjo along with various guitars. He produced Fall Like Rain himself and enlisted numerous guests, starting with his wife Sierra Hall, as well as Del McCoury, Dan Tyminksi, Jerry Douglas, Shawn Lane, Stuart Duncan, Bryan Sutton, Michael Cleveland, Jason Carter and many others.
Today we premiere his cover of “My Baby’s Gone” from the forthcoming record, which features guest vocals by McCoury. Moses tells Relix that Hull suggested that the tune after the two of them heard an older recording of it. He also notes that “after looking over my wish list for guests on the album, Del McCoury stood out as the perfect fit for it. Del is just such a cool person to be around in addition to being an icon. I knew it would be a blast to get to record something with him! This song was so fun to hear Del’s voice soar over, and a fun one for the band to get to pass around some solos.”
