After much anticipation, the 2024 edition of Strings & Sol returned to the Sapphire Resort & Spa in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, on Thursday, December 12.

The destination bluegrass concert vacation, which illuminates creativity and playfulness on fiddles, banjoes, mandolines, and more, officially got underway after a welcome speech from the event’s hosts, preluding the evening’s onset of music.

Following words of gratitude and admiration toward the audience and artists, Greensky Bluegrass christened the Beach Stage. The Michigan-bred five-piece treated attendees to a nearly two-hour frame, beginning with an ode to the occasion and their surroundings, with Eddie Money’s 1977 classic “Two Tickets to Paradise.”

Greensky proceeded with a pull from their discography, landing on 2007’s Live at Bell’s and offering a version of “Old Barns,” which set the tone for the ensuing performance: material that spanned each end of the group’s two-decade run.

Yonder Mountain String Band returned the favor, evoking a similar motif that played to all corners of their sturdy tenure as constituents of the craft. From the white sand beaches of the destination concert locations, view photos from night one of Strings & Sol courtesy of Camp Greensky Inc.
