Today, at long last, moe. have officially released Circle of Giants, the fan-favorite sextet’s 14th studio album. Launched via ATO records, the band’s long-awaited first full-length offering since 2020’s Not Normal charts the masterful development of their distinctive sound over 35 years of performance; its 10 genre-bending tracks show the group at the height of their abilities as songwriters and musicians arrives as a testament to their irrepressible creative spirit that endures through all circumstances. To celebrate the release, the band have shared a special behind-the-scenes music video for the standout song “Ups and Downs.”
“It feels good to celebrate after the amount of shit we’ve been through,” bassist/vocalist Rob Derhak said with a laugh on the occasion of the release.
Guitarist/vocalist Al Schnier adds, “We have always found our way forward because we have each other.”
Chuck Garvey, guitarist/vocalist and co-founder, echoes, “It’s this brotherhood and our extended moe. family that always gets us through.”
“Ups and Downs” is a soft and contemplative reflection on life’s little moments and the renewal to keep on through the peaks and valleys. At the hook, the bandmates sing as a chorus, “Don’t change a thing, give ‘em everything you got / Listen to the sound, swimming through the ups and downs.” Today’s video shows the band at work on the song in the studio, granting an intimate look at the artists as they direct their lived experience into a powerful performance.
