Last year’s Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues box set celebrated the iconic Austin nightclub. A new compilation will further honor the venue via a collection of remarkable performances from the club. Antone’s 50th Presents Chicago Bound: Honoring Muddy, Cliff & Blue presents an additional 11 live cuts from artists such as John Primer, Billy F Gibbons and the BFGS, Doyle Bramhall II, Kim Wilson & the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Anson Funderburgh, as well as Ivan Neville and CC Adcock with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, featuring Jimmie Vaughan on harmonica.

The album’s co-producer Zach Ernst notes that the idea for the collection came together in the moment during John Primer’s performance of Jimmy Rogers’s “Chicago Bound.” Ernst explains that “Beyond the song’s deeper meaning—the journey through music cities by artists seeking a better life and better pay than they could find in the South at the time—a ‘road trip record’ or ‘truck stop cassette’ felt like a creative way for Antone’s to honor the great musicians who live on the road. It also traces a spiritual route from central Louisiana, home of Clifton Chenier’s music, through Houston, Austin, Memphis, and on to Chicago.”

Today we premiere “Hangin’ On A Cliff” from Billy F Gibbons and the BFGS. This original Gibbons tune is a fitting selection as it acknowledges Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed and the “Three Kings”: Freddie, Albert, and B.B. The dynamic results appears below, just above the album’s tracklisting.
