Today, Connecticut-based jamband Goose shared a pro-shot video of their debut live performance of The National’s beloved 2010 song “Bloodbuzz Ohio.” The cover took place on Aug. 18 as part of their first-ever performance at the famed and iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, in Morrison, Colo.
The song, which tracks in at 7-minutes and 22 seconds, appeared during Goose’s second set of the evening following their song “Arrow.” The track is a pristine example of Goose’s ability to mix and meld their improvisional proclivities with distinct indie-rock staples. “Bloodbuzz Ohio” showcases gutiarist Rick Mitarotonda’s vocals and guitar work sheparding the group’s virtuostic skillset in a fashion that has shown its face on covers of songs like Modest Mouse’s “Missed the Boat,” The Shins’ “New Slang” and Father John Misty’s “I’m Writing a Novel.”
Other highlights from the evening included a pair of New Zealand tributes; “Fish in the Sea” by Fat Freddy’s Drop and Moniker’s “Milestone 2 (Skux Life);” and an encore of their fan favorite “Elmeg the Wise.”
