The String Cheese Incident Drop Surprise New Track
The String Cheese Incident have dropped a surprise new studio track, “Lightning Sky.” The song is said to build on their previous LP, 2023’s Lend Me A Hand, which was produced by indie-Americana staple Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, Hiss Golden Messenger), reflecting a deep commitment to songcraft and storytelling. According to the band, “That collaboration with Cook helped shape the band’s approach to songwriting in a way that continues to resonate today, ushering in a new era for the beloved band known for their immersive live shows and authentic, narrative-driven songwriting.”
“’Lightning Sky’ was inspired by a road trip to Oklahoma that my wife Kristin and I took to visit my family,” songwriter and bassist Keith Moseley says in a statement. “The song leans into the idea of connecting with the wisdom of the spiritual world and honoring family past and present. It is meant to be an homage and a celebration. We hope you enjoy it. Woo hoo hoo!”
The String Cheese Incident debuted “Lightning Sky,” one of a few new songs they have been testing out this spring and summer, at San Antonio, TX’s Stable Hall on May 28. They have performed the tune three additional times since then, most recently at Sharkey’s Events Center in Liverpool, NY this past Wednesday. The ensemble will make their annual return to Rothbury, MI’s Electric Forest tomorrow.
