Video Premiere: Dumpstaphunk Celebrate Unity with Animated Complement to “Let’s Do It”

Dumpstaphunk have unveiled a music video for “Let’s Do It,” the band’s first studio offering since their celebrated 2021 sophomore album Where Do We Go From Here. Premiered here, the New Orleans funk ensemble’s animated complement to their new release proudly enshrines sonic influences for their continued growth and testifies to their resilience through creativity and unity.
“Let’s Do It” is a hard-funking tribute to the power of community and collaboration with lead vocal duties split between bandleader Ivan Neville and bassist Tony Hall. Complete with horn wails and an anthemic shared refrain that recall the infectious idiosyncratic style of Parliament-Funkadelic, it’s fitting that the song is completed by a far-out, celebratory space odyssey of a music video, animated and directed by Mateusz Kijak.
The track’s message of “‘We’ is more powerful than ‘Me’,” per Neville, is manifested in the artists that contribute to its undeniable groove. Not only is “Let’s Do It” one of the final songs written and recorded with Dumpstaphunk’s late founding bassist Nick Daniels III–who passed away in April 2024–but it’s also their first studio release with new vocalist Viveca Hawkins. As the band continues to honor the legacy of their longtime collaborator and support Hawkins as she recovers from a recent stroke, the high-spirited tone of the song highlights the resilience that Dumpstaphunk finds by coming together to further advance their genre-bending sound.
“The lyrics and story behind our new single ‘Let’s Do It’ is a testament to how collaboration and togetherness amplify creativity and strength,” the band shared in an exclusive statement for Relix. “Just as Dumpstaphunk thrives on the collective energy of our members, our music highlights the power of coming together to overcome challenges. The video also honors Nick Daniels III, a beloved member who passed away last year, and celebrates the resilience of our newest member Viveca Hawkins, who is currently recovering from a recent stroke, underscoring that even in the face of adversity, there is immense power in unity.”
