The Jesus And Mary Chain Perform “Just Like Honey” With Phoebe Bridgers At Glastonbury Festival

The Jesus and Mary Chain brought Phoebe Bridgers on stage during their headlining set at Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, England on Friday night. Performing their song “Just Like Honey” off their 1985 release Psychocandy. During the performance, the Punisher singer provided a haunting vocal backdrop for Jesus And Mary Chain frontman Jim Reid.

Bridgers and Reid sang the harmonic outro as euphoric beams cascaded over the John Peel Stage. Broadcasted live on BBC, the contemporary ballad coaxed listeners towards the single based on a tragic romance caught in the thralls of addiction.

The surprise cameo came after her own set that evening where she led a chant to denounce the overturning of Roe v. Wade. “In all honesty, it’s, like, super surreal and fun, but I am having the shittiest day,” Bridgers admitted before shouting, “Fuck the Supreme Court!”

The Jesus And Mary Chain reissued their 2017 album, Damage and Joy, last week with Fuzz Club Records. Bridgers will continue playing throughout the UK and Europe before circling back to a few US shows in August.
