The Del McCoury Band and The Travelin’ McCourys Announce The Legacy Continues at The Ryman
The Del McCoury Band and The Travelin’ McCourys will come together for a special offering at the famed Ryman Auditorium this summer. The upcoming occasion brings together three generations of bluegrass players, converging on a single stage to celebrate the familial instinct to share songs and spotlight collective talent. The event will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
For over six decades, Del McCoury has embraced the bluegrass tradition to honor the practice and introduce its principles to the next generation of genre purveyors. McCoury’s career and legacy are naturally rooted in The Travelin’ McCourys, featuring sons Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, as well as Christian Ward, Alan Bartram, and Cody Kilb, who share Del’s mission to inspire and inform.
According to the official press release associated with the imminent Nashville concert, “The performance is less about the passing of the torch and more about how that torch has always been shared – on stage, on the road and in real time. It’s a continuation of what audiences have come to expect from the McCoury family: music that is deeply rooted, openly collaborative, and always moving forward.”
“Jean and I decided over 10 years ago that we wanted the boys to be able to find their own sound,” shares Del. “And that’s how The Travelin’ McCourys were born.”
The August occasion will start with a timeless delivery by The Del McCoury Band, before The Travelin’ McCourys’ arrival on the historic stage, where they will propel the music forward with a unique sense of innovation and panache.
Like the one-off event, McCoury will carry a similar energy to his annual DelFest, the annual Memorial Weekend event that takes place in Cumberland, Md. This year’s lineup highlights McCoury’s mastery while also featuring acts like Alison Krauss & Union Station, Toy Factory Project, Blackberry Smoke, Water Tower ft. Sierra Ferrell, Punch Brothers, Sierra Hull, and others. For information on the annual festival, visit https://www.delfest.com.
