Dave Matthews Band Welcome Ashlin Parker and Revisit Some Classics

Over the weekend in Indiana, the Dave Mathews Band closed out the latest leg of their summer tour. DMB’s two performance at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, IN (the venue formerly known as Deer Creek) included a number of tour debuts and rarities.

Friday’s show opened with “JTR,” the original that the band recorded with Steve Lillywhite for the follow-up to DMB’s 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets, which was scrapped and resurfaced on The Lillywhite Sessions. This marked the initial 2026 performance of “JTR” as well as two other songs: Come Tomorrow’s “Can’t Stop” and the Busted Stuff track “Digging A Ditch.”

On Saturday, DMB delivered four additional tour debuts. The group opened with “Two Step,” which Matthews has performed solo and with Tim Reynolds earlier in the year but not with the full band in 2026. Stand Up track “Hello Again” and Crash’s “Cry Freedom,” both of which have been performed infrequently in recent years, almost made their initial 2026 DMB appearances. The biggest bustout of the night came when Matthews played “Good Good Time” as a solo encore. He had performed with Trim Reynolds at their Mexico events in 2022 and 2023, then previously during DMB encores in 2014.

Saturday’s show also included a appearance by Dumpstaphunk trumpet player Ashlin Parker. He joined the group for “What Would You Say” and “Crush.” This marked the fourth time he’s geusted with DMB, after stints on 9/3/21, 11/13/21 and 11/15/22.

Dave Matthews Band’s next gigs are at Acrisure Amphitheatre in Grand Rapids, MI on July 7 and 8.
