The Black Crowes are currently in the midst of their Southern Hospitality Tour with Whiskey Myers. While the Crowes stuck to something of a stock setlist after reuniting in 2019, at first performing their debut LP, Shake Your Money Maker in its entirety each night and then focusing on a select mix of material, they have gradually started to explore their full repertoire while continuing to play their biggest hits at most shows.
At the Walmart AMP, Rogers, Ark. on May 19, they busted out Delaney & Bonnie’s “Poor Elijah / Tribute to Johnson” for the first time since October 22, 2013. Then, on May 21 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, they revived “God’s Got It” for the first time since a Dec. 6, 2024, appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Indio, Calif. and welcomed back former Crowes guitarist Audley Freed for “Remedy.” When the tour moved on to the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Ga., on Saturday, the Atlanta-bred group brought out another area hero, Drivin’ n’ Cryin’s Kevn Kinney, to perform his band’s “Acceleration” for the first time and debuted a cover of AC/DC’s “Riff Raff” during their encore. Likewise, Sunday at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham, Ala., the ensemble celebrated the tour debuts of two cuts from their recently reissued 1994 album Amorica, “She Gave Good Sunflower” and “High Head Blues” and played The Valentinos’s “It’s All Over Now” for the first time during their encore. Finally, last night at the Brandon Amphitheater in Brandon, Miss., the Crowes offered the Warpaint song “Wounded Bird” after keeping it on the shelf since Aug. 13, 2013, and the Three Snakes and One Charm track “(Only) Halfway to Everywhere” for the first time since Nov. 14, 2024.
The group’s tour will continue in Orange Beach, Ala. this evening.
