Capricious weather events are the catalyst for the Steve Miller Band’s canceled tour. The modern iteration of the band, known for hits such as “The Joker,” “Take The Money And Run,” and “Fly Like An Eagle,” among other mid-70s and early-80s staples, has called off all dates on its calendar, citing meteorological disasters and extreme conditions.
Prior to the cancellation, the Steve Miller Band had accumulated more than 30 concert dates on their schedule, with an official start slated for August 15 in Bethel, N.Y., and an end date set for November 8 in Anaheim, Calif. In a post shared on the band’s official website and social media platforms, they addressed fans of the band, writing:
You make music with your instincts.
You live your life by your instincts.
Always trust your instincts…
The Steve Miller Band has cancelled all of our upcoming tour dates.
The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable.
So… You can blame it on the weather…The tour is cancelled.
Don’t know where, don’t know when… We hope to see you all again.
The Steve Miller Band has toured extensively in recent years, with the bandleader achieving veteran status through his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022, and his most recent accolade, the 2025 Les Paul Spirit Award.
