Members of moe., the Disco Biscuits and Particle will come together this week for Joe Marcinek’s Dead Funk Summit. Slated to take place at Woodstock, NY’s Bearsville Theater tomorrow, July 23, the show will unite guitarist Marcinek, Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein, moe. drummer Vinnie Amico, Particle keyboardist Steve Moltiz, Jelly Bread drummer Cliff Porter, Tumbleweed Soul singer Steph Salva and others.

The musicians, many of whom have performed with the members of the Grateful Dead in different contexts, will offer a funk spin on that storied band’s catalog. The following day, Marcinek will perform in a different context when he appears the Einstein’s Tap House in Burlington, VT, with Porter, Salva and Paddy Donnelly. Offering a hint at what is to come, the event’s description notes, “Too jazzy for jam bands. Too jammy for jazz fans. Welcome to the genre-defying world of Joe Marcinek, where boundaries dissolve and spontaneity reigns.”
