Today, Bob Weir released audio of “Greatest Story Ever Told” from his 50th-anniversary celebration of Ace, live from New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The recording took place on April 3, 2022, the second night of ceremonial concerts, and features Tyler Childers on vocals.

The live recording comes ahead of the 50th-anniversary edition and expanded deluxe reissue of Weir’s iconic solo album, which will release on Jan. 13, 2023, and will feature all eight songs on the original tracklist and more.

During April’s performance of “Greatest Story Ever Told,” Weir and Childers were joined by Don Was, Jay Lane, Jeff Chimenti, and Barry Sless, along with Alex Kelly, Mads Tolling, Adam Theis, Sheldon Brown and Brian Switzer.

The rendition of the track, which was written by Weir, Robert Hunter and Mickey Hart, highlights Childers’ fervent vocals and musical versatility, and expert playing from the ensemble who have been carrying the legacy of the Ace for most of their lives.
