John Mayer Unveils First-Ever Watch Collaboration with G-Shock
John Mayer by Marc Millman
Since the pandemic has sidelined him from both Dead & Company and his solo career, John Mayer has forged yet another creative path as a watch designer.
Previously, Mayer has been been interviewed by GQ about his unique style – even added a pricey, custom Grateful Dead Rolex to his famed timepiece collection – but his newest project in the fashion world marks his first-ever signature watch collaboration, the G-SHOCK Ref 6900.
“When Casio approached me about the possibility of working together on a G-SHOCK, it actually timed out really well,” Mayer explained via press release. “I had already been pretty deep into wearing the ‘Mudmaster’ models, and something felt cosmically right about a G-SHOCK being the first watch collab I’ve ever done.”
According to Mayer, the design was inspired by his salad days with the Casiotone SK-5 keyboard.
“It’s the perfect bridge between my double life as a musician and a watch enthusiast,” he added.
The G-SHOCK Ref 6900 is priced at $180.
