Today, esteemed American guitarist and singer-songwriter John Mayer confirmed he’d set out on the first solo tour of his long and storied career. The Dead & Company guitarist posted an image of today’s date (Jan. 26) over a black-and-white photo of a wooden stool along with him and his guitar on social media just six days ago, spurring many rumors.

“I began my career on stage with only a guitar and a microphone. A lot has changed since then, but I knew one day I’d feel it in my heart to do an entire run of shows on my own again, just like those early days,” Mayer wrote in today’s post. “It took a couple of decades, but I feel it now. I’ll be playing old songs. Newer songs. Songs you haven’t heard yet that I’ll be road testing – all on acoustic, electric, and piano.”

The Sob Rock guitarist’s tour will commence at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on March 11, before making stops at arenas in major North American cities like Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Detroit, Denver, Vancouver, Seattle and more. The 19-stop run will conclude on April 14 at Los Angeles, Calif.’s Kia Forum, a little over a month before Mayer and his bandmates in Dead & Company set off on their final tour on May 19.

Notably, on select dates, Mayer will enjoy support from Lizzy McAlpine, Alec Benjamin and a special guest that’s yet to be announced.

Presale for Mayer’s first solo tour will commence on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 9 a.m. local time and run through Thursday, Feb. 2, at 10 p.m. General onsale will start Friday, Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. local time. Sign up to access presale tickets and learn more here.
