On October 18 and 19, 1999, Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes joined forces for two unforgettable collaborative performances at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. 25 years later, the rock icons have reconnected to remember their historic shared stage and give fans access to the wealth of unreleased recordings and backstage stories that they’ve been sitting on since. Following the release of the deluxe reissue of Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live at the Greek in March, the artists have unveiled a mini-documentary with their reflections on the shows.

“The Making Of Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes – Live at the Greek” is an 11-minute behind-the-scenes video directed by Barbara McDonough and edited by Rick Ballard. The video matches recently unearthed archival footage with new interviews with the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist and Southern rock firebrands, as well as producer Kevin Shirley, who trade insights on the roots of the collaboration and express their respect for each other’s catalogs and talents. Among the highlights of the conversation are the artists’ memories of their first meeting, which arrived just after the Crowes had finished a tour supporting Robert Plant.

“We were doing a couple of nights at the Royal Albert Hall, and Robert’s like, ‘Can I bring Jimmy down?” and we were like, ‘We’d love to meet Jimmy, of course!’ [laughs]” The Black Crowes’ lead guitarist Rich Robinson recalls. “We just hit it off like that [snaps].”

“It was really good for me to meet them, because I had really admired them from the recording work they had done,” Page echoes. “They were definitely from the same school I’d come from.”

Page and the Crowes go on to discuss some of their favorite moments from the shared bills, like “Ten Years Gone,” which Page says “was like I’d died and gone to heaven,” and “She Talks to Angels,” which The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson says “was never the same after that, because [Page] eleveted this thing of, ‘Oh, this is what it could be.’”

The 24th anniversary repress of Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes: Live at the Greek boasts a whopping 36 classics from the catalogs of Led Zeppelin and the Crowes, including 16 previously unreleased recordings from the combo’s three-night run at The Greek Theatre and Jones Beach. The unprecedented team-up is presented like never before with a full remaster by producer and engineer Shirley, exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, never-before-seen video and much more.
