Phish to Release 2025 SPAC Shows as a Digital Box Set, James Murphy and Questlove Added to Mexico Event
Phish will release a new digital box set on June 26, Phish: Live In Saratoga Springs 2025. The 55-song compilation will collect the Vermont Quartet’s complete three-night run at Saratoga Springs, NY’s Broadview Stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, which took place at the tail end of the first leg of last summer’s tour. Each of the shows, which were held from July 25-27, 2025, contained some notable moments: Phish’s opening night featured a completely seamless second set, the middle night included teases of Black Sabbath’s “N.I.M,” Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way,” The Four Season’s “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)” and other tunes, and the final night was an instant classic that opened with “Tweezer Reprise” and capped off with the first “Tweezer” encore in the band’s history, before the musicians closed the evening with “Harry Hood.” Along the way, Phish moved into “Tweezer Reprise” several times throughout the show, making it a “Tweezer Reprise” fest.
The group has played SPAC, which is located near the Vermont border and functioned as something of a local shed in Phish’s early days, 27 times between July 1992 and July 2025, beginning with an opening spot for Santana. Other notable moments include a “Harpua” during the band’s 2009 tour closer following their reunion, a 2023 flood relief benefit with Derek Trucks and guest turns by Page McConnell’s father Jack, The Dude of Life, Trey Anastasio Bans bassist/Saratoga resident Tony Markellis and the band’s children on father’s day 2010. The new release includes part of the soundcheck from the July 27 performance.
The shows were recorded by Vance Powell to multitrack, mixed by Jon Altschiller and mastered by Fred Kevorkian. Cover art is by Madalyn Stefanak while Rene Huemer provided the photos.
In related news, Phish has added a few acts to its annual Mexico destination event. James Murphy and Questlove, who spun records at Phish’s 2024 Mondegreen festival, will now both DJ while Ali Macofsky, Beth Stelling, Fred Armisen, Phil Hanley and Rory Scovel will offer comedy sets. The band will return to Cancun, Mexico’s Moon Palace from January 27-30.
