Dead’s Almanac Gets App Treatment

October 31, 2012

What once started as a free, mailed, newspaper-like publication and eventually migrated to the Internet to become an online-only publication, is now part of the latest digital age as it evolves into an app. Yes, the much beloved Grateful Dead Almanac is now available as a free download in the iTunes App Store and features audio, video, essays, Dead-related updates and other fun accoutrements.

The app is part of the third annual 30 Days of Dead celebration throughout the month of November on Dead.net. Beginning November 1, fans will also be able to download one previously unreleased soundboard recording of a live song for one day only for each day of the month.

Rhino has also announced early-bird pricing for subscriptions to 2013’s Dave’s Picks series which will include quarterly releases overseen by Dead archivist David Lemieux. (Lemieux took over the roll from longtime Dead archivist Dick Latvala after the latter’s passing in 1999.) Each edition will be limited to 13,000 copies.
