Daft Punk Spurn Colbert

August 7, 2013

Daft Punk had long been rumored to appear on The Colbert Report but alas it appears that they will be no shows at least for now. Last evening Stephen Colbert explained, “We booked Click and Clack over here about a month ago. Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Don’t tell anyone, because fun fact: No one told me until two hours ago.” Reports now suggest that their slot on the VMAs precludes them contractually from joining Colbert. One would think this could be worked out, since both programs are owned by Viacom, so stay tuned (as least to Colbert, because if he doesn’t “Get Lucky,” he remains the Magellan of “truthiness” and the author of America Again: Re-becoming The Greatness We Never Weren’t).
