The socially conscious hip-hop artist Breez Evahflowin has dropped what he is calling his final album, As He Goes On…, today. The album, out on Little Ax/Domination Recordings, features Rob Swift, Immortal Technique and Homeboy Sandman, among others. Readers may recall his work with Soulive’s guitarist Eric Krasno in the project Mic and the Music. The two even recorded an album in 2004 that’s never been properly released which sees contributions from singer/rapper/comedian Reggie Watts, drummer Adam Deitch, Soulive keyboardist Neal Evans and horn players Rashawn Ross and Ryan Zoidis. (Breez toured with Soulive in 2004/05, too).

Born Enrique DaSilva, Breez emerged on the New York battle rap scene in the late ’90s, eventually earning the crown as the national grand champion of the famed Blaze Battle competition in 1999. He has collaborated and worked with a variety of underground hip-hop artists including Kenny Dope, Vast Aire, Slug, Chali 2na, The Molemen and Dirt E. Dutch.

“I’m feelin’ the weight of responsibility at this point, y’know?” says the 38-year old. “Ultimately at this point in my life, Breez needs me more than I need Breez. And that’s big, right there for me personally … Just remember my honesty, that’s all I want people to do, and it’s cool.”
