Arctic Monkeys Debut “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” Days Before Release of New LP ‘The Car’

Today, Arctic Monkeys released “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am,” the final single due to release ahead of their highly anticipated LP ‘The Car,’ which will arrive this Friday, Oct. 21. The song was released with an accompanying music video, and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner joined Zane Lowe his show, The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music 1 to discuss the new track.
The video for “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” finds Turner and his band on stage in an ornate theatre, doused in shimmering golden light. As they progress through the song, Arctic Moneys look out over the crowd as harmonize and take their time through the sauntering lyrics before otherwise silent onlookers sing their praises with cheers and applause.
During their conversation on Lowe’s show, Turner detailed the process of putting “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” together. “It seems obvious, but everything has its space and takes its turn. I don’t know, it’s not battle between the band and this other sound or something.” He continued to share, “I think it was important for us to try and get somewhere with that, with the dynamics of that whole situation. We’re having a bit more fun with those types of ideas.”
