Athens, Ga. mainstay Bloodkin are back with a brand new album - Black Market Tango - out April 16.
This marks the band's first studio LP in a decade, and to stoke excitement they've shared an exclusive single here on Relix, the road-ready "Man In Trouble."
"Eric’s guitar progression and my lyrics: The classic Bloodkin formula, from way back," explains singer Daniel Hutchens. "The lyrics are a story about when life goes so bad you start thinking there might be some almost supernatural cause behind the troubles. But it was a blast putting this song together. I had a notion there should be some female backing vocals, and what I had in mind was the Warren Zevon formula: cool, old-school female vocals but really dark lyrics, a la 'Excitable Boy.' It all worked out for us, when Ansley Stewart showed up and absolutely nailed her vocals on this song (and then a number of others on this record)."
Many jamband fans may know Bloodkin for their influence on fellow Athens export Widespread Panic - originals like "Can't Get High" and "Who Do You Belong To?" are regular covers in the WSP repertoire.
