Watch: My Morning Jacket and Taylor Goldsmith Team Up for “Down on the Bottom”
Earlier this year, an all-star cast of musicians such as Jim James, Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Taylor Goldsmith and Rhiannon Giddens came together to form The New Basement Tapes, inspired by the famed Bob Dylan ’67 recording sessions. Their first album featured 20 renditions featuring long-lost lyrics from Bob Dylan and one of them, the first track “Down on the Bottom” saw its live debut with My Morning Jacket at their One Big Holiday destination event.
The band kicked off the show on February 1 with the tune as James and the rest of My Morning Jacket welcomed out Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith for the song. This was just one of many surprises throughout the weekend as My Morning Jacket changed the face of Mexico forever with three shows chalk full of debut covers, guest appearances and many more.
