Watch John Mayer Cover Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” in New Jersey

John Mayer stopped in New Jersey on his Search for Everything tour and appropriately nodded to one of the state’s musical titans as he covered Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” to kick off the acoustic portion of his show. 

The cover entered Mayer’s world in 2007 and has appeared sparingly in the years that followed, last appearing at Wembley Arena in London in 2013. This was one of a few choice covers played on this particular night as Mayer also mixed in a bit of Rolling Stones’ “Miss You” into his own “Helpless” along with Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner” in “Neon” and of course a touch of Dead with “China Cat Sunflower” melding into his own “Something Like Olivia.”
