Jim Carrey made quite an entrance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night, enlisting bandleader – and Crescent City native – Jon Batiste for a second line parade straight out of New Orleans.

The famed comedian was sure to take the Stay Human band for a walk around the studio, and led them with plenty of flair, wielding a purple umbrella and tossing gold confetti.

“Jon Batiste and the Stephen Colbert Second Punchline Dancers!” Carrey exclaimed afterwards.

As Batiste described in a recent Relix cover story, “In New Orleans music, second-line music in particular, there is that spirit of unbridled joy.”
