University of Florida Paid a Stunning Tribute to Tom Petty During Football Game
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL holds north of 90,000 people on college football Saturdays when the Florida Gators are in action, and yesterday against LSU every one of them was singing along to Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” in a chilling tribute to the late musician.
Petty, a Gainesville native, was honored just a few days after passing away at the age of 66 due to cardiac arrest.
The stadium played one of his biggest hits following the traditional singing of “We Are the Boys” at the start of the fourth quarter, as the university announced they would do earlier in the week.
