Los Angeles-based duo The Grand Southern formed in the city’s famed Laurel Canyon. Dash Hutton (vocals, drums) and Jesse Tyre Karp (vocals, guitar) create music that draws on the storied lineage of this locale, with their rich, nuanced Americana.  Hutton and Karp continue to win legions of supporters for their rootsy, country-inflected sound, with a new EP, Traded Heaven, on the horizon. Today we premiere “Drive Me Wild“ from Traded Heaven.

Hutton tells Relix, “Recording this song was fun and easy, the dynamics of the song instrumentally are directly parallel to the feeling of the melody, lyrics, and chords. We approached the production of this song in a very natural way and didn’t force anything, we let the musicians and singers create the sound. The chorus is an exception to that, if I remember correctly we were using the production of Jeff Lynne’s produced ‘Full Moon Fever,” by Tom Petty, as inspiration.”
